Those with subscription control will find a number of options under the Notifications tab within their Profile. Notifications, in a nutshell, are short notices about newly Notifications Tab in Profilepublished or updated content appearing somewhere on the site. There are some subscriptions we require for all users that are created upon registration. In general, the controls fall into three categories: sending method (normally e-mail),  interval (normally immediately), and type. If any of the default settings do not appeal to someone, experimentation is encouraged. As the site grows we hope to offer more options.

Subscription Types

Content - Most will find they have one or more subscription to a specific content type. This means they will be notified when that content type is published or updated. This is the broadest type of subscription option and should be used as a 'catch-all.'

Tags - This is the next most common subscription type, as it is used selectively to pinpoint content out of a general pool. For example, all registered users are required to notices posted in the Announcements section of our Forum. The Tag method is used to isolate posts made in that one board from others.

Thread - The best way to describe this is a means to isolate one conversation from others appearing on the site. Say, for example, you've posted a question in the forum's Seeking Help section and want to be notified when someone responds. You would setup a subscription for that thread.

Groups - Those who belong to a Group will, of course, have a subscription connected with that membership.
